With the help of other student leaders from Mount St. Mary's University I tried to raise $10,000 for the Macchi School in Tobati, Paraguay to help fund a music and arts program. The campaign was raising funds on behalf of Team Tobati Inc, a verified nonprofit.

The ambition was to create a platform for the youth of the Instituto Cultural Reinaldo Macchi through music and arts. We identified music and arts as a catalyst in the race for peace. We believe that through music and arts peace can truly be achieved. Through an illustration, melody or the lyrics of a song you are able to express yourself in ways that cannot be duplicated. Throughout history music and arts have been utilized by many cultures to express, build, and share their stories. Martin Luther King once stated "Next to the Word of God, the noble art of music is the greatest treasure in the world." Notable times throughout history, humanity has utilized art to recreate, depict and amplify identity. We believed that to truly take any steps towards peace there must be the understanding of history.  History is written each and every day, but at times we seem to fall to the misconception that history can only be found in the bindings of paperback books that are written by the academic "elites." History, in its grand timeline, isn't just found in books but also in music and arts. Nearly every century, era, and moment, in history, along with a paperback book you will find some song or rhythm that attributes to the change, destruction or even growth of a society.  We wanted to give the students enrolled at the Instituto Cultural Reinaldo Macchi the opportunity tell the present and the future their story. When you give a child a voice, they refuse to be silenced and that is the beauty of what we are trying to achieve.
